*Opening Hymn         “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” (On back bulletin)

Prayer of Humble Access and Lord’s Prayer          Pastor Don

Father, we enter the quiet stillness of the Garden of Decision tonight, where Jesus agonized the long night before Love’s greatest day.  We each have a cross to bear, so encourage us in this hour of power to change our will from mine to Thine.  We know our true joy lies in bringing self-will to its knees in the spirit of the Man from Galilee. Hear us now as we pray as our Lord taught us to pray…

Offering         Plates are left at the door as you leave money to be used by the Deacons to help those in need.

Communion Hymn       “The Old Rugged Cross”  (On back bulletin)

Invitation to Holy Communion and Prayer of Confession (unison)                                                                     Pastor Don

            Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against You

                        in thought, word and deed,

                        by what I have done, and by what I have left undone.

            I have not loved You with my whole heart;

                        I have not loved my neighbor as myself.

            For the sake of Your Son, Jesus,

                        have mercy on me and forgive me,

                        that I may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways,

                        to the glory of Your Name.   AMEN

Promise of Absolution                                               Pastor Don

Almighty God, in His mercy, has given His Son to die for us and, for His sake, forgives us all our sins.  As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN

“Beneath the Cross of Jesus”

Beneath the cross of Jesus I fain would take my stand… The

shadow of a mighty Rock Within a weary land, A home

within the wilderness A rest upon the way, From the burning

of the noon-tide heat, And the burden of the day.

Upon that cross of Jesus Mine eye at times can see The very dying

form of One Who suffered there for me; And from my smitten heart

with tears Two wonders I confess… The wonder of redeeming love

And my unworthiness.

“The Old Rugged Cross”

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,

The emblem of suffering and shame;

And I love that old cross where the dearest and best

For a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the

old rugged cross, And exchange it someday for a crown.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,

Its shame and reproach gladly bear;

Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,

Where His glory forever I’ll share,

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the

old rugged cross, And exchange it someday for a crown.
