Trivia:  President Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, Hodgenville, KY and married Mary Todd in 1842. President Lincoln, the tallest President 6’4” was an American statesman and lawyer who served as the 16th President of the United States from March 4, 1861 until his assassination April 15, 1865, Petersen House, Washington, D.C.

Lincoln led the United States through the American Civil War.

He attended Protestant church services with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln and their children Robert Todd Lincoln, William Wallace Lincoln, Thomas Lincoln, & Edward Baker Lincoln, but only one “Robert” lived to adulthood. .During his years as president, he and his wife attended New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.

February 14th St. Valentine’s Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from a Roman festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February - officially the start of their springtime.  It's thought that as part of the celebrations, boys drew names of girls from a box. They'd be boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes they'd get married. Later on, the church wanted to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and decided to use it to remember St. Valentine too. Gradually, St. Valentine's name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved.  The first St. Valentine’s Day is believed to have started in 496!

Ladies Group will meet at noon on St. Valentine’s Day.  Please bring a bag lunch for a “Birthday Bash”.

“Blessings Food Basket” in the Sanctuary & in the school bus shelter. Bring in packaged foods that will not spoil or freeze.

New or if your address, phone or email has changed let Arlene and Deanna know, so the registers are correct.
